Utilify ("we," "us," "our") operates the utilify.io website and the Utilify MCP server and API (the "Service"). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.
When you use Utilify to search for and sign up for utility providers, we may collect:
Utilify earns commissions when you sign up for a service through our tracked links. For utility and insurance partners, when you click a signup link you are redirected to the provider's website, and the provider (not Utilify) collects your information to complete enrollment. Solar referrals work differently — there we collect your details and pass them on, but only with your confirmation; see Section 5a. Our recommendations are based on fit, quality, and value — commission rates may influence ranking among otherwise equivalent options, but never override user fit.
This is the one case where we hand your contact details to another company, so we want to be precise about it.
What we share: your name, address, email, phone number (only if you gave us one), estimated monthly electricity bill, move-in date, and how far along you said you were.
Who we share it with: one licensed Texas solar installer. Not several, and not a lead marketplace. We tell you which installer.
When: only after you click the confirmation link in an email we send you. Filling in the solar form is not enough on its own — if you never click, we never pass anything along.
What we get: the installer pays Utilify a referral fee. This does not change what you pay, and we are not paid more for steering you toward a bigger system.
How to stop it: use the withdrawal link in that email, or write to [email protected], at any time — before or after a referral. Once your details are with an installer, that installer is responsible for their own handling of your data under their privacy policy, so you may want to contact them as well.
Under some state privacy laws, paying us a referral fee makes this a "sale" of personal data, even though we think of it as an introduction. We would rather over-disclose than argue about the label. You can opt out at any time using the methods above.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected].
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
